Meet The Host, "Doc"

Laney J. Chouest, affectionately known as “Doc,” is a dynamic entrepreneur and former maritime executive whose bold voice and unique perspective are at the heart of Are You Tired of This Sht?* Born and raised in New Orleans, Laney’s professional journey is anything but typical. He began as a family physician after earning his medical degree from LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. But in 1983, he pivoted from medicine to join his family’s global maritime empire, Edison Chouest Offshore. There, he played a major role in expanding the company’s fleet and operations, helping establish ECO as a powerhouse in offshore oil and gas.

After retiring from ECO in 2006, Laney hit the gas—literally—by launching NOLA Motorsports Park, a world-class racing facility in Avondale, Louisiana. His entrepreneurial drive didn’t stop there. He’s also served on major boards like the Port of New Orleans, Kaman Corporation, and the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee.

Today, Laney uses his voice to shake up conversations that matter. A full-time New Orleans resident, he’s passionate about youth development, especially through his work with Heroes of New Orleans. There, he’s teaching 3D printing and life skills to young people in Algiers—because real change starts with the next generation.
